Our work

Edelgive with SIX
will work at the
intersections

Finding effective ways to work across silos has always been at core of all of SIX’s work. We intentionally invite people from diverse backgrounds, both private and public, and different disciplines including politics, design, international development, entrepreneurship and others to participate in our events and activities.

This will continue through EdelGive with SIX.

EdelGive with SIX builds on SIX’s 15 years of deep expertise in the dynamics and practice of social innovation as well as broad knowledge of global social innovation trends and new thinking from different parts of the world.

There are three core features the guide how we design our projects:

Complex societal challenges can rarely be addressed through single point solutions – they require a systemic perspective which draws on lots of different approaches. We are constantly collecting new ideas, learning and creating. We draw on and blend a variety of different disciplines (systems thinking, design, imagination, policy innovation, the arts). We’re method and tool agnostic.

It’s one thing finding people from different perspectives, it is another thing to get them to learn from each other or work together. The art to bridging effectively starts from our own value systems, beliefs and behaviours. Bridgers need to be able to navigate different systems and know who to connect, when and how.

Working globally does not only require linguistic translation. We invest time in deeply understanding the social, cultural and political differences across geographies, talking to a diverse set of actors to learn about history, politics and characteristics and values of the place we are working and collaborating with.

Current projects

Our 15 years focused on building the social innovation field. We did a series of knowledge building events and activities, and supported others in their innovation journeys to take a more systemic approach.

EdelGive with SIX will now work on some specific silos and intersections that we think are important, yet are being neglected. Below is a list of some of the projects we are working on.

Missions x Social Innovation

Social innovation has a vital role to play in achieving the EU Missions objectives. Social Innovation Mission Facility is a Horizon Europe project which aims to unlock the potential of social innovations into mission-oriented policy and practice. The project will engage and mobilise funders, investors, social innovators and R&I policy makers.

Mission-oriented policy is a strategic public policy approach that sets specific, ambitious, and time-bound goals to tackle major societal challenges. It focuses on systemic transformation by coordinating efforts across ministries and sectors to drive innovation, investment, and collaboration towards economic, social, and environmental change.
