Laura Espiau

European Programmes Advisor

Laura supports SIX as one of the Learning Partners in the CHESS Horizon project about building social innovation (SI) ecosystems to contribute to tackle socioecological challenges. She also keeps her eyes open for further international opportunities for SIX to apply its SI expertise to the global sustainability path.

In her international career Laura encourages the spread of the social economy as the basis for a fair and collective ecological transition.  In the past she has worked for a social enterprises incubator in India; organising an international forum about social economy and local governments; disseminating urban commons practices in Seoul, Quebec and Catalonia; or leading international exchanges on sustainable last-mile delivery with cooperative, private and municipal actors in Malmö and Montreal.

An economist and journalist by training, Laura completed recently her MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development from the Université de Montréal, where she further explored the connection between the social and the circular economy.

Adoring to immerse herself in other cultures, Laura speaks fluent English, French, German, Spanish and Catalan. (She’s also able to communicate in Swedish and to babble in Basque).
