Global Dialogue on Capturing and Understanding Social Innovation in the Public Sector

Location: Global Dialogue
Event Date: 15 October 2012

There has been considerable work to capture and measure innovation in the public sector in the Nordic Countries, across Europe and the United Kingdom through comprehensive surveys which strove to capture innovation activity, idea generation and expenditure. However, none have yet been able to measure the impact of innovation on the improvement of public service delivery or the effectiveness of particular innovative activities. Reflecting on this previous work and the current work of the Australian Public Sector measurement project and the work of the OECD NESTI and the OECD Directorate for Science, Technology & Industry, participants discussed the challenges of developing metrics, understanding innovation activity and future planned activity.
