ASEAN Impact Challenge is an initiative to encourage, empower and support change driven social innovators and entrepreneurs within the region. Southeast Asia is one of three world regions with the highest resilience needs (Rockefeller Foundation), and more than 50% of the ASEAN population lives in urban areas. In this light, our challenge takes the topic ‘Sustainable Cities, Resilient Nations’, under which banner changemakers will be encouraged to design innovations to become more sustainable and resilient in times of acute shocks such as natural disasters, and chronic stresses such as global market conditions.
Changemakers taking part will be challenged to find ambitious solutions and create innovations to pressing community, social and environmental issues within the region. Two innovations from each ASEAN country with a proven model and the potential to scale will be given the opportunity to pitch their revolutionary initiatives to a group of entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers during the 1ASEAN Entrepreneurship Summit held in Kuala Lumpur in November. ASEAN Impact Challenge is a feature of the “Innovate the Future” programmes of the 1ASEAN Entrepreneurship Summit. 1ASEAN Entrepreneurship Summit (1AES) will be held for the first time in November in conjunction with Malaysia taking over the Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2015. It will take place for three days from Nov 20, 2015 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
